Modern Description: The promontory, which has no obvious Classical remains to justify the Astypalaia identification, takes its modern name from an Ottoman-era chapel of Agios Nikolaos, reachable by a low neck of land with a sometimes soggy dirt road. Traces of a prehistoric settlement have been found. On the summit of the hill, reachable by a clear footpath, is a plundered shaft grave and traces of illegal excavation. The hillside has undecorated prehistoric (Middle Helladic?) and small amounts of Roman (?) pottery, and the view is good.
