Modern Description: Rubble foundations of a modest temple, excavated 1976-1977 on the Katsimili property by A. Archontidou-Argiri (Greek Archaeological Service). Identified with Artemis Orthosia due to a Roman-era inscribed statue base found nearby. In 1975, a bulldozer destroyed one wall, revealing an archaic bronze female figurine and pottery from geometric to Roman times. Walls from an apsidal building of the Early Helladic II period extend under the temple. Also proto-Corinthian sherds. Dated as Archaic to Roman. Found in a gap in one wall was a hoard of 92 gold staters dated by one coin of Demetrios Poliorketes to ca. 300 BCE, evidently the savings of a mercenary officer. On the shoulder of the ridge overlooking Palaia Epidavros from the W. Unfenced, overgrown (2018.08) but with plan clear. A relatively clear trail leads up from the dirt road just W of the modern church at the highest point the paved road reaches uphill from the road to Nauplio.
