Modern Description: A Mycenaean tholos tomb of large dimensions and two smaller ones have been excavated in recent years. The city's site indicates the interest in communication by sea with Attica.
The hero Theseus links Troezen with Athens. A few ruins of its wall are preserved NW of the present village of Troizina and a tower in good condition. Pogon (Vida) was the ancient outport. The acropolis was at the site of Kastro, while the city extended in the plain. Poros foundations attributed to the temple of Artemis near the church of Saint George. In the same area is the site of the city's official sanctuary, of Apollo Thearios. To the NW of the ancient city foundations of the sanctuary of the local hero Hippolytos. A Doric peripteral temple and a temenos, the W part of which functioned as an Asklepieion-healing sanctuary.
At the site of Lakkomata an Early Christian three-aisled basilica with added buildings, in all probability an episcopal church. A very lovely mosaic floor from the second building phase (5th century), remains of a marble dado and opus sectile. Paved with reddish marble.
