Modern Description: A small citadel in the fertile plain near Mycenae, that was inhabited continuously in the Bronze Age (3rd-2nd millennium BC). Production centre of pictorial pottery in Mycenaean times (14th-13th century BC), a commodity that was exported in large quantities to the whole of the Aegean and Cyprus. An important chamber-tomb cemetery and one tholos tomb (15th-13th century BC).
