Modern Description: The kastro, with a thick rubble wall, is about 430 x 140 m, oblong, with traces of internal building walls but too little sherd scatter to clarify the period of primary use. It is reachable by a road leading up from just N of Tsoukaleika village to a modern Prophitis Ilias church. It has been suggested as a site for Stenykleros, a mythic early Messinian city.
