Modern Description: Originally a Carian city that participated in the Athenian League in the 5th century BC, under the local leader Paktyes. The acropolis is preserved above the village of Kuzlu Kuyu, with its defensive wall and ruins of a building at the centre, as well as some parts of the city's outer wall (4th century BC and Hellenistic period). Rock-cut tombs of the 4th century BC are preserved beside the ancient river Idymus (nowadays a stream). On two of them the façade is in the form of an Ionic temple.
