Modern Description: Signposted steps in the attractive hillside village of Komiaki (also called Koronida) in NE Naxos lead to a paved path N out of the village. Shortly after a little spring-house, the trail, now dirt, takes one to the opening (left) of a small vaulted Mycenaean tholos tomb. The roof is a single large slab. The tomb, already looted, was excavated in 1908. Forgotten, it was relocated in 1995 and recently cleaned and incorporated as a point on the new (2014?) cultural trail network. Fragmentary pottery dates the tomb to around the end of the 15th c. BCE. The tholos has been taken as evidence for a royal system in place on Naxos in the Mycenaean period.
