Modern Description: The acropolis of Thouria is reached by turning E in Antheia village (300 m S of the Revoil station, signposted Palaiokastro Moni). The road is paved. Turn right to visit the monastery and the newly excavated (2019) city gates). Return to the main road and turn right and right again (now a dirt road) when you see the Ag. Varvara chapel on the left. The road hugs the W flank of the summit, and in 500 m reaches the ancient theater. Though covered in plastic, the outlines are readable. Continuing on foot past the theater, walls and foundations and columns from several monumental buildings are visible. Continuing on the main dirt road, there is a huge rock-cut cistern W of the road, and, shortly after, a road left lead to the impressive Mycenaean chamber tomb cemetery.
