Modern Description: A Carian city that was Hellenized in the 6th century BC; a member of the Athenian League and later of the Koinon of Chrysaoreans. Ruins of it near the village of Ören. The basically polygonal defensive wall of Early Hellenistic times is visible. At the site of Bakicak, outside the city, there was most probably a temple of Zeus Chrysaoreus. Fragments of sculptures, now in the Izmir Archaeological Museum, come from here. Also outside the city, at the site of Kursunlu Yapi, remains of a Corinthian temple with inscribed relief shields on its walls.
