Modern Description: A harbour of Elyrus, important for the sanctuary of Asklepios (3rd century BC-1st century AD). The sacred spring-fountain and the Doric temple-oikos of Asklepios, with mosaic floor, are preserved. Inscriptions and votive statues recovered from the latter are in the Chania Archaeological Museum. A portico, a bath and perhaps a hospice or priests' residence have also been uncovered.
The ancient settlement, rock-cut and vaulted-roofed tombs, and ancient harbour installations have also survived.
Remains of two Early Christian basilicas on the site of the Byzantine churches of the Virgin and Saint Kerykos.
