Modern Description: A very important city in Crete. Harbour installations, scant remains of two theatres. Remains of public buildings and movable finds mainly fron the site of Viglia, W of the modern town of Hierapetra, where the heart of the ancient city was located. An archaeological collection. Hellenistic-Roman piscinae have been located at Ferma, near Hierapetra.
