Modern Description: The outlines of a robbed-out sanctuary, with a peripteral temple in antis, dining rooms, and cisterns/water channels for a grove/garden, were found and excavated by the Archaeological Service of Cyprus on a small promontory at the S end of Pachyammos beach S of Paphos, prior to construction of a hotel complex on land belonging to the Church of Cyprus near a church of Agios Nikolaos. The dating is apparently Hellenistic (Ptolemaic), with indications of an earlier shrine on the site. The temple is oriented NNW-SSE, looking toward Asqelon, home of a Semitic version of Aphrodite. Excavations took place 2015-19. The complex is to be preserved, adapting the hotel construction accordingly.
