Modern Description: The site in the Jordan river valley, N of Jericho and S of Fasayil, was excavated by the Israeli antiquities authority, revealing a Byzantine church with mosaics, Greek inscriptions, and Jewish ritual bath, as well as a Herodian tower. The site is now seriously threatened by looting and nearby construction.
